Christmas Day Angel - This exquisite piece portrays the anticipation of the Christmas visit from Santa through the eyes and hearts of children. The angelic yet austere faces of the children show their reverence for Father Christmas. On the front of this piece, a beautiful Christmas Angel child portrays the love of the giving spirit of the season. She holds a large, ornate Christmas Tree ornament accentuating her petite stature and youthfulness. Her face shows her tender nature through bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks and her gentle pink-lipped smile. On the back of this Santa, a beautiful young girl escorts a loving yet weary-eyed Santa into her village. Children wait patiently by the snow covered fence for his arrival. Nature is woven intricately into this piece with evergreen trees laden with snow in the background and bluebirds singing in the foreground on branches hanging above the children. As with classic Russian carvings, Santa's toy bag is covered with soft-petaled roses of beige, red and pink tones. The piece is tastefully accented with gold trim and filigree. The gratified smile and affectionate eyes on the carved Santa's face perfectly exhibits the giving spirit of Christmas. This Russian Santa is completely hand carved from solid linden with traditional carving knives, chisels and gouges. After sanding, each piece is hand painted in detail and signed by the artist. Each of these unique, hand-crafted Santas is a one of a kind work of art.
