Joys of Christmas - at 20 inches tall and over 10 inches in diameter, this rare and amazingly finished Santa carving brings to life the wonderment of the presence of Santa at Christmastime. This dignified Santa with loving eyes and a look of endearment holds strongly to a deep purple and gold staff with a matching toy bag covered in traditional pink and gold roses. On the back of his coat is a scene of a loving Santa bearing gifts of teddy bears, spinning tops, bouncing balls and baby dolls for all of the young children on Christmas day. Surrounding Santa are chubby faced children with rosy cheeks wrapped up tightly in their winter coats and scarves. A rich royal blue backdrop embellishes the stark white glow from the freshly fallen snow on the trees and cascading hills. A quaint Russian village lies quietly in the distance. On the front of this elegant piece are beautiful wide-eyed children on a snowy winter day. Bare trees full of snow and graceful songbirds surround them. A younger brother clings tightly to his new teddy bears as his older sister watches closely over him. Dawning her head is a traditional rose covered scarf and long braided hair, she epitomizes the innocence of a young Russian child who smiles so sweetly in the magic of the season. This Russian Santa is completely hand carved from solid linden with traditional carving knives, chisels and gouges. After sanding, each piece is hand painted in detail and signed by the artist. Each of these unique, hand-crafted Santas is a one of a kind work of art.
