Christmas Sleigh Ride - A very traditional winter holiday scene with a couple going on a sleigh ride pulled by three horses, commonly referred to as a Troika. This Santa holds a bear in his hand and the incredible winter scene, painted in oils, continues all the way around the carving. The use of blue and grey tones, combined with pearlescent paint gives remarkable depth to the landscapes and ominous sky. Around the sides and back of the santa carving are painted trees, shrubs, another horse and sleigh with a cathedral or church in the background. A very beautiful and extremely unique lacquered Father Frost. This Russian Santa is completely hand carved from solid linden with traditional carving knives, chissles and gouges. After sanding, each piece is hand painted in detail and signed by the artist. Each of these unique, hand-crafted Santas are a one of a kind work of art.
