"An extremely unique African American Santa Claus carving with amazing detail and carving complexity. From the box and crank, the relief carved sides with beautiful detailing to the cute little black Santa with wavy beard holding a couple of candy canes the workmanship in this piece beyond amazing. The box itself looks as though the lid is hinged, however it is carved from a single piece of wood, remarkable and very difficult. Susan's unique finishing of her Santa carvings give them a distinct old English, almost antique appearance. Each one of a kind hand-crafted Santa Claus figure is individually designed, carved, painted and finished. Signed and dated by Susan Mattix"
