"Best Friends Forever illustrates the delightful poem "The Story of Santa Mouse." Though the lonely little mouse has no one to play with, he saves a special piece of cheese for the secret visitor only he has seen, and who comes but once a year . . . Santa. The kindness and good humor of Santa shines through when he says to his new little friend,"
Thank you for my gift he said now tell me what's your name, I haven't any said the mouse. You haven't that's a shame. You know I need a helper as I travel house to house. And I shall give a name to you, I'll call you Santa mouse. So here's your beard and here's your suit and here's each tiny shiny boot. You mustn't sneeze and you mustn't cough, Now put them on and we'll be off. Then over all the rooftops on a journey with no end, Away they went together, Santa and his tiny friend.

In this special moment we see the look of joy, total delight on the little mouse's face as Santa presents him with his own Santa cap, and invites his new friend to come along on a never ending mission to bring joy to the children of the world. And in this moment of joy it is official . . . "YOU ARE SANTA MOUSE!" None other than Happy Tabby is there to share the joy and bid his little friend "bon voyage!"
Best Friends Forever is hand carved of basswood, sealed, and painted with the finest artist quality oil paints for the richness and depth of color of a classic oil painting in three dimensions. The hand carved base shows the detail of the wooden floor of the living room where this happy scene unfolds. The top and bottom moldings are gilded in gold colored foil. The title is hand lettered in gold paint with red drop shadow to stand out against a conifer green background.
