Kente Claus and Monkey by Deborah Call. The icon of African cultural heritage around the world, Asante kente is identified by its dazzling, multicolored patterns of bright colors, geometric shapes and bold designs. "Kente cloth" has its origin with the Akan people. It is a royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance. Kente was the cloth of kings. Traditionally the Kente cloth is a festival cloth worn mainly during the annual and seasonal festivals, which are happy occasions. This Kente Claus proudly displays his heritage as he extends an open arm of welcome and warmth that can be felt so deeply this time of year. A playful monkey puts a multi-colored bowl on his head trying to gain some attention and favor from Kente Claus. Hand carved, hand painted and signed by Deborah Call. A one of a kind Santa Claus.
